Job summary

At Waikato Diocesan School for Girls, we believe exceptional pastoral care creates the conditions for exceptional learning. We are seeking an experienced and passionate pastoral leader to join our Student Wellbeing and Pastoral team in a newly created leadership pathway position.

Designed for an accomplished Dean or pastoral leader, this role provides the opportunity to broaden your leadership experience. Reporting to the Associate Principal – Pastoral, you will guide, support, and grow our experienced team of Year Level Deans while gaining genuine exposure to whole‑school strategic planning and Senior Leadership Team meetings.

The opportunity

Working collaboratively across the school, the Associate Dean will:

  • support the leadership of pastoral care across Years 9 – 13.
  • support the Associate Principal to lead restorative practices, mentor and develop year level Deans.
  • coordinate key wellbeing initiatives, peer support, and restorative practices.
  • assist with complex student wellbeing matters and strategic planning.
  • lead key pastoral EOTC activities, including year-level camps.

The successful applicant will have

  • A proven track record of middle leadership as an experienced Dean or pastoral leader.
  • A deep understanding of adolescent development and a passion for coaching staff and promoting girls' education.
  • Strong strategic thinking, composure under pressure, and experience leading EOTC/camps.
  • Current New Zealand teacher registration and a drive to step into future senior leadership.
