Job summary

sKids New Zealand is seeking an Assistant Programme Manager to help mornings and afternoons run smoothly for Tamariki. You’ll work a minimum of 10 hours per week, rostered Monday to Friday, with after school shifts from 2:30pm.

You’ll lead activities, supervise Programme Assistants, and build strong relationships with schools and families. You’ll arrive early to prep, support the team, and may access holiday programme hours. A right to work in NZ is required and you must be aged 20 or over.

Qualifications

  • Must have the right to work in New Zealand.
  • Able to reach Peninsula site with reliable transport.
  • Experience leading or organising after school programmes or similar children's services is a plus.
  • Must be over 20 years old to comply with regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Run sKids programmes day-to-day from setup to smooth operations and build strong relationships with school communities.
  • Supervise Tamariki in arts, sports, games, and activities including offsite adventures.
  • Lead safe, engaging sessions and ensure activities run smoothly.
  • Be a friendly face for parents and schools and maintain positive communication.
  • Guide and inspire the team to perform at their best every day.
  • Arrive early to prep activities and coordinate Programme Assistants.

Job Description

As an Assistant Programme Manager, you'll be the friendly face that makes the mornings & afternoons unforgettable for children. You'll be working a minimum of 10 hours per week, rostered across Monday to Friday.

  • Afternoon/ After School shifts run between 2.30pm–6.00pm. Availability from 2.30pm is essential, though finish times may vary.
  • Potential school holiday programme hours available (between 7am - 6pm).

  • Lead safe, fun, and engaging sessions that keep kids buzzing while making sure everything runs smoothly

  • Guide, support, and inspire your team to shine and bring their best every day

Qualifications

We'd love to hear from you if you:

  • Have the right to work in New Zealand (valid visa or citizenship)
  • Can get to Peninsula site with reliable transportation and/or a vehicle
  • Bring your enthusiasm and leadership for working with kids – whether through coaching, teaching, mentoring, or running activities, you know how to inspire and guide Tamariki
  • Have proven experience leading or organising before & after school programmes (or similar children's services) is a big plus – we're looking for someone who can manage operations, people, and create awesome experiences for kids
  • Are over the age of 20 years old, in order to comply with Social Security (Childcare Assistance) Regulations 2004.
