Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora invites applications for an Anatomical Pathologist to join the Northland team in Whangarei. The role provides a laboratory and consultative service across diverse pathology areas, including general, dermatopathology, GI and breast pathology, with occasional frozen sections.

Applicants should have MCNZ specialist registration or eligibility, and FRCPA or equivalent preferred. Coronial autopsies may be possible subject to accreditation and service requirements.

Qualifications

  • Must have or be eligible for specialist registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) in Pathology.
  • Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (FRCPA) or equivalent is preferred.
  • Ability to perform coronial autopsies may be offered subject to accreditation and service requirements.
  • Willingness to work as part of a Northland-wide pathology team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide laboratory and consultative service in Anatomical Pathology.
  • Handle a diverse caseload including general pathology, dermatopathology, GIT, urogenital, Head and Neck and breast pathology.
  • Utilize expertise with occasional frozen sections as part of patient care.
  • Engage in coronial autopsies if engaged for career development and accreditation.

About the Role

We are seeking an Anatomical Pathologist to join the team at Health New Zealand, Te Tai Tokerau to provide a laboratory and consultative service in Anatomical Pathology. This role offers a diverse and stimulating caseload, including a mix of general pathology, dermatopathology, gastrointestinal (GIT), urogenital, Head and Neck and breast pathology. You'll also utilize your expertise with occasional frozen sections.


Subject to accreditation and service requirements the position may offer the optional engagement in performing coronial autopsies for career development.

Our established team of four pathologists provides comprehensive service coverage across the Northland region of New Zealand!

About you

To be considered you must have or be eligible for specialist (or locum tenens) registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) in a Pathology Vocational scope of practice.


Ideally you will have completed a Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (FRCPA) or equivalent.
