Job summary

New Zealand Treasury invites applications for an Analyst or Senior Analyst in the Revenue and Economic Development team. You will deliver economic analysis and policy advice across tax, regional development, science, immigration, and labour market settings.

You will collaborate with Treasury and other agencies to support Ministers and Budget initiatives, balancing trade-offs and delivering robust, evidenced-based guidance. Flexible work arrangements are available.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to convey complex issues clearly.
  • Analytical thinking and ability to balance economic, fiscal, and implementation risks.
  • Interest in public policy and understanding of economic frameworks are beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Combine economic analysis, policy advice, and cross-government coordination to inform Ministers’ decisions.
  • Contribute to Budget initiatives, policy reforms and major work programmes.
  • Shape Treasury thinking on tax and economic development policy.
  • Collaborate with Treasury and other government agencies to develop robust, evidence-based advice.
