Job summary

Mercy Hospital Dunedin is seeking an Anaesthetic Technician/ODP to support safe delivery of anaesthesia and patient care across a range of procedures. You will provide clinical and technical assistance to the anaesthetist and contribute to maintaining high quality and safe administration of anaesthesia.

This permanent, full-time role involves a 4x10 hour shift pattern on a Monday to Saturday roster. You will work with the theatre team and participate in quality improvement activities,

Qualifications

• Hold MSCNZ registration and a current Annual Practising Certificate.
• Demonstrate sound professional judgement and cultural safety.
• Able to work independently or in a multidisciplinary team.
• Attention to detail and proactive attitude.
• Vaccination history may be required for Mercy Hospital Dunedin.

Job description

We are looking for an Anaesthetic Technician/Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) to join us at Mercy Hospital, in this role you will be an integral part of the team making a valuable contribution towards the safe delivery of Anaesthesia for a wide range of procedures.

In this position you will provide clinical and technical assistance to the Anaesthetist and contribute to the maintenance of high quality and safe administration of anaesthesia and patient care including support to the theatre team.

In this role, responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Provide safe administration of anaesthesia to patients.
• Anticipate problems and exceptional patient care.
• Co-ordinate documentation to ensure the patient receives effective care.
• Participation in quality improvement processes and activities.

This is a permanent, full-time (1 FTE, 40 hours per week) position to be worked on a Monday to Saturday roster 4x 10 hour shifts per week.

Alongside your previous experience as an Anaesthetic Technician or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP), our ideal candidate will also have the following:

• Hold registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
• Demonstrate sound professional judgement and an ability to practice in a culturally safe manner.
• Confidence to build successful working relationships with those around you, the ability to work independently or within a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Enthusiasm and a proactive, flexible attitude.
