Job summary

Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora - Waitaha Canterbury in Christchurch is inviting applications for a casual Allied Health Assistant to join our social work team. This role supports inpatient, outpatient and community-based patients, working across the Christchurch campus as part of a multidisciplinary team.

You will assist Social Workers, manage patient-related administration, and engage with patients and whānau in a respectful, culturally safe manner.

Qualifications

• Experience in a healthcare, disability, or allied health support role.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and clinical systems/data entry.
• Experience engaging effectively with patients, whānau, and diverse communities.

Responsibilities

• Support Social Workers in delivering person-centred care to patients and their whānau
• Assist with patient-related administration, including data entry, documentation, and coordination of referrals
• Engage with patients, whānau and carers in a respectful, culturally safe, and supportive manner
• Monitor and report on patient progress under the guidance of Social Work professionals
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies
• Contribute to the smooth running of the service, including supporting workload across areas as needed
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in line with Health New Zealand standards
