Job summary

Aerowork in Whanganui is seeking a skilled Aircraft Maintenance Engineer to maintain and overhaul our fleet. You will work on engines, airframes, and components, with field and hangar tasks, ensuring airworthiness and compliance with Part 145/148 standards.

You should have NZ work eligibility, appropriate aeronautical qualifications, and a proactive/problem-solving mindset to handle varied tasks and safety-critical work in a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Current eligibility to work in New Zealand is required.
• NZQA Certificate of Aeronautical Engineering level 4, NZ CAA cert. Aircraft Maintenance Licence, or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years' practical aircraft maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Document and certify aircraft maintenance.
• Complete scheduled and unscheduled maintenance for Aerowork's fleet.
• Troubleshoot and correct in-service faults across the fleet.
• Complete all work safely and to the highest quality.
• Lead and develop engineering staff.
• Identify and champion opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.

Aerowork delivers precision aerial fertiliser application to support New Zealand’s hill-country farmers. With a nationwide fleet of 13 GPS-equipped aircraft, 35+ loader trucks, and a full in-house engineering team designing and maintaining specialised aircraft components, we operate one of the most capable aerial spreading networks in the country. About the Role:

We're on the lookout for high-calibre Aircraft Maintenance Engineer to join our Aerowork team in Whanganui. This is a dynamic, challenging role where no two days are the same. From carrying out engine repairs in the field to completely rebuilding an airframe in the hangar, this role will allow you to utilise all your skills and experience. Aerowork is Part 145 and 148 certified which enables us to continually improve and modernise our fleet while providing the capacity and capability to repair or rebuild almost every component used across our fleet of aircraft.

We want engineers who take pride in their work and apply their skills and knowledge to ensure every aircraft leaves the hangar in a safe and airworthy condition. As we design, develop and manufacture aircraft modifications a strong ability to read and understand technical publications and drawings is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Document and certify aircraft maintenance.

About You:

You’ll need a passion for what you do, your attention to detail will be second to none and you will be able to cope with pressure at times.

The ability to exercise your excellent problem solving and decision-making skills combined with excellent engineering abilities will help you succeed.

The ability to be flexible and deal with the variety the comes with the role is key as one day you may be performing engine hot end inspections and then rebuilding a flap the next.

You will be working as part of a supportive team of high performing engineers who all push each other to be better and are more than just work colleagues.

Ideal Skills & Experience:

• Candidate must have current eligibility to work in New Zealand.
• NZQA Certificate of Aeronautical Engineering level 4, NZ CAA certified Aircraft Maintenance. Engineer licence, or equivalent qualification/experience(at least three years).
• Previous practical experience in aircraft maintenance.
• Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic abilities.
• Sound written and verbal comprehension skills, with the ability to interpret technical instructions.
• Experience with using computerised maintenance management systems.
