SME Careers seeks a Chemical Engineer to evaluate and refine AI systems on domain-specific topics, applying deep engineering knowledge to challenge and improve model responses. You will review complex thermodynamics, mass and energy balances, and unit operations within real-world process contexts.

The role emphasizes safety, sound engineering judgment, and structured feedback. Bachelor-level degree required; advanced credentials and AI experience are a strong plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (or closely related) required.
• Master’s/PhD, PE/Chartered credentials, or advanced professional certifications strongly preferred.
• 4+ years of professional chemical engineering experience with hands-on process design and plant/operations work.
• Experience with AI data training, annotation, red-teaming, or evaluating AI-generated technical content is a strong plus.
• Familiar with PFDs/P&IDs, Aspen Plus/HYSYS, CHEMCAD, process datasheets, PSM documentation, HAZOP/LOPA, or SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI-generated content for technical accuracy, logical soundness, and safety considerations.
• Review and refine AI-generated prompts, model responses, and step-by-step engineering solutions.
• Provide structured feedback identifying factual errors, missing constraints, and incomplete reasoning.
• Assess model performance on material & energy balances, thermodynamics, and unit operations.
• Support development of AI communication standards for technical chemical engineering content.
