Job summary

New Zealand Management Academies (NZMA) is seeking a passionate Agriculture Tutor to deliver our Agriculture Programme on a fixed-term basis ending in April 2027. You will guide learners through practical content and support growth in industry knowledge and skills.

You'll teach students from diverse backgrounds, create weekly training plans, maintain records, and embed literacy and numeracy standards while mentoring learners toward successful qualifications and work placements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Level 5 qualification in Agriculture or a related field.
  • Proven ability to mentor and engage youth and adult learners.
  • Experience in teaching or training is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy, with ability to support embedded unit standards.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and assess learners in the Agriculture Programme.
  • Create and implement weekly training plans and ensure course entry criteria are met.
  • Maintain up-to-date training records, assessments, and student progress reports.
  • Embed literacy and numeracy unit standards into delivery; monitor improvement benchmarks.
  • Mentor learners toward successful qualification completion.
  • Support work placements and liaise with industry stakeholders for relevance and employability.
  • Ensure compliance with NZQA and internal quality standards.

About the role:

This is a fixed-term role concluding in April 2027.

The successful candidate willteachstudents from diverse backgrounds, including youth, second-chance learners, and those seeking employment in the land-based industries.You’llprovide a fun, safe, and engaging environment where learners are motivated to succeed and can see a clear pathway toward further study or employment.

This role offers a unique opportunity to positively influence the next generation of agricultural and horticultural professionals.

Learners at our Land Based Training Schoolscomplete their studies equipped with the skills and knowledge to progress onto higher levels of education and to enter the workforce.

Qualifications
About you:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Previousexperience working in Agriculture environments (e.g. farm systems, machineryetc)
  • A minimum of aLevel 5 qualification in Agricultureor a related field
  • Proven ability to mentor and engage youth and adult learners
  • Experience in teaching or training is highly desirable, though not essential
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills, with the ability to support learners to achieve embedded unit standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confidence working with diverse groups andmaintaininglearner motivation
