Genesis is seeking an Accountant - Reporting and Control in Hamilton with flexible working. You will own key financial accounting and regulatory reporting activities, including month-end, journals, reconciliations, and emissions accounting.

You’ll join a team focused on accurate reporting across the Genesis Group, supporting financial statements and audits while building cross-functional relationships and complying with Crown reporting requirements.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years' financial accounting experience in corporate, audit or professional services environment.
• Commerce degree in Accountancy; CA qualification or working towards CA.
• Strong attention to detail, clear communication and a willingness to learn specialist areas.

Responsibilities

• Support accurate, compliant financial reporting across the Genesis Group.
• Own emissions unit accounting, including accruals, journals, settlements and annual emissions return.
• Prepare month-end journals and balance sheet reconciliations across assigned accounts.
• Support annual and half-year Group financial statements, subsidiary reporting and audit requirements.
• Prepare Crown financial reporting and respond to Treasury queries as required.

What You'll Do

As Accountant - Reporting and Control, you'll support accurate, compliant financial reporting across the Genesis Group while taking ownership of key financial accounting and regulatory reporting activities. Based in Hamilton with flexible working, this is a broad role with exposure to financial statements, month-end, audit, emissions accounting, Crown reporting and settlements.

Own emissions unit accounting, including accruals, journals, settlements and the annual emissions return

Prepare month-end journals and balance sheet reconciliations across assigned accounts

Support annual and half-year Group financial statements, subsidiary reporting and audit requirements

Prepare Crown financial reporting and respond to Treasury queries as required.

What You'll Need

You'll bring 2-3 years' financial accounting experience, ideally from a corporate, audit or professional services environment, with a solid grounding in core accounting disciplines. Energy-sector experience isn't required; strong attention to detail, curiosity, clear communication and a willingness to learn specialist areas will help you succeed.

• A Commerce degree in Accountancy or similar
• CA qualification, or be working towards becoming CA qualified
• Experience across month-end, journals, reconciliations, general ledger and financial reporting
• Intermediate Excel skills and confidence working with numerical information
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to build effective relationships across different teams
