Job summary

Epic Games is seeking a Web Engineer Intern to join the Tools & Portals team within Epic Online Services. You will contribute to production systems across the full stack while gaining hands‑on experience with modern web development, backend services, cloud infrastructure, and AI-assisted software development.

Qualifications

  • Eagerness to learn, ask questions, and contribute to engineering problems.
  • Willingness to explore new technologies and codebases, seek guidance when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Build full-stack features using React, Next.js, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS with guidance from the team.
  • Contribute to backend services and APIs using Next.js, NestJS, and Node.js.
  • Learn and apply development practices for production infrastructure including AWS, Kubernetes, containers, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Write, test, review, and deploy production code alongside experienced engineers.
  • Learn and apply AI-assisted software development workflows throughout the lifecycle.
  • Contribute to internal tools and developer-facing platforms used across Epic Games.

What We Do

Driving the plug-in power behind Unreal Engine 5. We bridge connections for licensees and our own internal game teams to online services. This allows games like Fortnite to utilize a combination of platform online services as well as Epic’s own online services to build cross-platform online features. Login, parties, voice chat, matchmaking, purchasing, cloud storage, and analytics are just a few examples of online features that our Online Game Services team helps games utilize.

WEB ENGINEER INTERN

What You'll Do

We are looking for a Web Engineer Intern to join the Tools & Portals team within Epic Online Services. Tools & Portals builds the software, platforms, and digital experiences that enable Epic’s internal teams, player support operations, players, and external developers to work with and access Epic services more effectively. You will contribute to production systems across the full stack while gaining hands‑on experience with modern web development, backend services, cloud infrastructure, and AI-assisted software development.

In this role, you will
  • Build full-stack features using React, Next.js, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS with guidance from the team
  • Contribute to development of backend services and APIs using Next.js, NestJS, and Node.js
  • Learn and apply development practices for production infrastructure including AWS, Kubernetes, containers, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Write, test, review, and deploy production code alongside experienced engineers
  • Learn and apply AI-assisted software development workflows throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Contribute to internal tools and developer-facing platforms used across Epic Games
What we're looking for
  • Interest in full-stack web development and learning modern engineering technologies
  • Some familiarity with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, or similar web technologies through coursework, projects, or previous experience
  • Eagerness to learn, ask questions, and contribute to solving well-defined engineering problems
  • Willingness to explore new technologies and codebases, seek support when needed, and incorporate feedback
  • Ability to work effectively with guidance, communicate questions and blockers, and incorporate feedback
  • Strong collaboration skills and willingness to work closely with engineers, product partners, external teams, and stakeholders
  • Understanding of defined requirements and willingness to ask clarifying questions when needed
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, including sharing progress and incorporating feedback
  • Interest in using AI tools and AI-assisted workflows as part of software development
