Job summary

Folk AS in Norway seeks a Cost Estimator to prepare accurate, timely, and competitive cost estimates for projects, services, and tenders. You will analyze specifications, develop cost breakdowns, and evaluate supplier quotes while collaborating with PMs, engineers, procurement, finance, and operations.

The role supports business growth and financial performance by providing reliable cost assessments, identifying risks and opportunities, and ensuring alignment with technical and commercial needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field.
  • Certifications in estimating or project controls are a plus.
  • Minimum 3 years in cost estimation or related areas.
  • Experience with engineering, EPC, industrial, or energy projects.
  • Knowledge of ERP, estimating software, and project tools.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects, tenders, and services.
  • Analyze technical specs, scope documents, drawings, and client requirements.
  • Develop cost breakdown structures and pricing models.
  • Evaluate quotations from suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure estimates are complete, accurate, and on time.

We are seeking a Cost Estimator for available for immediate start!

The Cost Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, timely, and competitive cost estimates for projects, services, and tenders. The role supports business growth, project planning, and financial performance by providing reliable cost assessments, identifying risks and opportunities, and ensuring alignment with technical, commercial, and operational requirements.

Accountabilities:
Cost Estimation and Tender Support
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects, tenders, maintenance contracts, and service deliveries.
  • Analyze technical specifications, scope documents, drawings, and client requirements.
  • Develop cost breakdown structures and pricing models.
  • Evaluate quotations from suppliers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure all estimates are complete, accurate, and submitted within required deadlines.
  • Maintain estimating databases, cost libraries, and historical cost records.
Commercial and Financial Analysis
  • Evaluate project profitability, risks, and commercial assumptions.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and optimization initiatives.
  • Support pricing strategies and bid/no-bid decisions.
  • Participate in financial reviews and estimate validation processes.
  • Monitor market trends, labor rates, material costs, and supplier pricing.
Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Procurement, Finance, and Operations teams.
  • Participate in clarification meetings, tender reviews, and project handover activities.
  • Provide cost-related advice during project planning and execution.
  • Support management with budget forecasts and scenario analyses.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Finance, Business Administration, or related discipline.
  • Relevant professional certifications within estimating, project controls, or commercial management are considered an advantage.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in cost estimation, tendering, project controls, commercial management, or related disciplines.
  • Experience preparing estimates for engineering, EPC, industrial, energy, or process industry projects.
  • Strong understanding of project execution, procurement, and cost management principles.
  • Experience supporting tender submissions, commercial evaluations, and project budgeting activities.
  • Experience working with ERP systems, estimating software, and project management tools.
