Job summary

A leading engineering staffing provider is seeking an experienced Umbilical Engineer for a contract role. Responsibilities include planning, engineering, and managing umbilical systems for oil and gas projects. The ideal candidate will possess a BSc/MSc in engineering and over 10 years of experience in umbilical system engineering and design. This position offers opportunities for continuous improvement and will be located in Oslo or Stavanger, with some offshore work requirements.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Plan and engineer the Subsea Umbilical and Cable work for projects.
  • Build and lead the Subsea Umbilical and Cable team through all project phases.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the scope and execute in alignment with project requirements.

Skills

Extensive experience in umbilical system engineering
Competence with umbilical technical requirements (DNV, API, ISO)
Good understanding of marine operations and umbilical installation

Education

BSc/MSc within engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or equivalent)

Umbilical Engineer

Contract period: 31.12.2025 - 30.06.2026
Location: Oslo or Stavanger

Main Tasks
  • The Subsea Umbilical and Cable Lead: Is member of the SURF team and reports to the SURF Project Manager
  • Is responsible forallplanning, engineering and fabrication work to be performed for the Subsea Umbilical and Cable in accordance withCompanyand Project governing documentation, best practices and applicable rules and regulations requirements
  • Build, develop and align the Subsea Umbilical and Cable team, as necessary to execute the overall scope through all project phases, including use of PDC products and services
  • Drives continuous improvement within own scope and through synergies with others, SSI implementation and compliance with the expectations given in the SURF execution model – building blocks
  • The role and responsibility will be defined dependent on project complexity, phase and organisationalset-up
  • Subsea Umbilical Lead will take on the full technical and commercial responsibility for planning, engineering, fabrication and execution of the scope and ensure alignment and report to SPS / SURF / Facility Manager
  • The Subsea Umbilical and Cable lead shall deliver according to phase DG0-DG4 and business needs
  • Prepare documentations according to the relevant DG phase within Subsea Umbilical and Cable scope and ensure compliance with applicable rules, standards and regulations
  • For early phase projects, responsible for scoping and following up studies within Subsea Umbilical and Cable scope and maturation of Subsea Umbilical and Cable design and deliveries as required per project phase
  • Participate in concept work-groupsand document recommendations and decisions as required
  • Responsible to perform or establishing and following up studies within Subsea Umbilical and Cable discipline and maturation of design and deliveries as required per project phase (TR1244)
  • Within own scope, drive continuous improvement, secure safety in design, design-to-cost and constructability
  • Perform/contribute to concept evaluations and provide input to Design Basis updates
  • Provide evaluations, reports and presentations as required towards key project milestones and Decision Gates

Qualifications
  • BSc/MSc within engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or equivalent)
  • Extensive (10years+) professional technical experience with umbilical system engineering, design and fabrication within oil and gas projects
  • Competence with umbilical technical requirements and standards (DNV, API, ISO) including dynamic analysis
  • Good understanding of project execution including marine operations and umbilical installation
