Job summary

Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL seeks an Assistant Professor of Emergency Management. This full-time, tenure-track position requires teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses, maintaining a scholarly agenda, and advising students.

The appointment is a 9-month term with rank and a competitive salary. Responsibilities include developing courses aligned with FEMA, DoD, United Nations standards and engaging in service to the university.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree (Ph.D) in Emergency/Disaster/Crisis Management/Public Safety or related field.
  • Experience related to business continuity, emergency preparedness operations, disaster preparedness, mitigation, community recovery, and training utilizing simulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach at the university level.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in emergency management, public safety and related fields.
  • Maintain an active scholarship agenda and advise/mentor students.
  • Contribute to departmental, college, and university service.
  • Prepare courses and meet competency requirements for FEMA, DoD, UN and related agencies.
  • Engage in research with a publication record and participate in online instruction using modern educational technology.
