Are you ready to deal with challenging technical issues in Offshore Mooring and Offshore Loading systems?

MacGregor is looking for a dedicated and experienced Technical Support Engineer, Software and Automation System to join our Global Services team. In this critical role, you will provide essential internal and external technical support, documentation expertise, and operational assistance for complex automation systems on a global scale.

You will be part of a global company, making a real impact on the operational performance and safety of offshore systems worldwide. We offer an opportunity to work with cutting‑edge automation technology and complex engineering challenges, collaborating closely with other departments. The main working focus will be control system, PLC programming, E&I drawing, especially for service projects.

More Tasks And Responsibilities
  • Provide remote troubleshooting and technical support to global customers and Offshore Service personnel. Be a part of 24/7 support if needed
  • Support service projects with engineering, solution finding for customers, parts, and documentation
  • Generate and update recommended spare parts lists and associated technical documentation
  • Take part in modifications, including updating drawings and documentation
  • Conduct necessary training related to offshore work and assist in service jobs if needed
  • Participate in Design review and other activities with reference to PEM
  • Update ERP, drawing, document systems according to our standards
  • Participate in commissioning at site and customer acceptance testing.

Reporting directly to the Manager Technical Support Offshore Mooring & Loading located in Norway. The position will be based in MacGregor's office in Arendal, Norway.

What You'll Need To Succeed

We are seeking a candidate who demonstrates exceptional self‑management, possessing the ability to work independently and efficiently complete assignments without constant supervision. This role is highly collaborative, requiring excellent social and communication skills for effective engagement with both customers and internal stakeholders globally.

Ideally you have

  • University degree in automation or mechatronics
  • 5+ years of experience in relevant service business and products, as well experience with similar products
  • Good knowledge of systems, preferable RSLogix, Wago, Siemens S7, Siemens TIA Portal, Studio 5000, Beijer iX-Developer, Wonderware, E3, Autocad
  • Solution oriented mindset to identify the challenges and focus on the solutions
  • Ability to influence and negotiate with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English
