DNV is seeking a summer student to join the Calculation Tools group in Maritime, based at Høvik. The role focuses on software development for Nauticus Hull, exploring AI and scripting features, and enhancing integration with OCX and other CAD tools.
The assignment involves working with the Nauticus Hull 3D model, FE calculations, and collaboration across the ship design ecosystem to improve user experience and automation.

Class Development (M-SD) is one of five operational units within Ship Classification in Maritime. M-SD contributes to Maritime Strategic Goals through initiatives focusing on developing future ways of service delivery to improve customer satisfaction, quality, efficiency, and automation. Digitalization is a key vehicle for success. Our initiatives are organized in development programs. The total number of permanent employees in M-SD is around 110, located at Høvik, Hamburg, Gdynia, Shanghai and Pune. In addition, the unit has sub-contractors on a temporary basis.
We are now looking for a highly motivated summer student to work as a software developer in our department Calculation tool and with our Nauticus Hull development. The unit has 22 employees in Hamburg, Shanghai and Høvik. The work location is at Høvik
Nauticus Hull is a specialized software package developed by DNV for the strength assessment and structural design of ship hulls. It provides a comprehensive set of tools for efficient hull design and verification, ensuring compliance with DNV Rules and IACS Common Structural Rules (CSR) for bulk carriers and oil tankers. A lot of our focus now is to investigate how we can utilize AI and agentic workflow to enhance the user experience within Nauticus Hull.
