Job description

The Service Engineer (SE) will be part of a team responsible for maintaining and repairing security systems installed at client premises. The role requires initiative and autonomy, with flexibility to adapt to company changes and workload fluctuations.

Responsibilities:
  • Work allocated by the Service Administrator (SA) or Service Manager (SM).
  • Perform reactive fault-finding and repairs on CCTV, IP CCTV, Access Control, Intruder Alarms, Door Entry Systems, Server Hardware/Software, and Workstation Hardware/Software.
  • Conduct planned preventative maintenance on the above systems.
  • Participate in a 24/7 callout rota (currently 1-in-4), with additional pay for out-of-hours work.
  • Work across various locations in the UK and Europe, with willingness to stay away from home as required.
  • Attend client sites promptly, maintain professionalism, and keep clients informed.
  • Report any difficulties to the SM immediately.
  • Complete all relevant service documentation.
  • Demonstrate to clients that issues are resolved and discuss work carried out.
  • Notify the SM or SA of any unrectified faults, return visits, or parts needed before leaving the site.
  • Provide feedback to improve service quality and prevent recurring problems.
  • Monitor work progress and communicate updates in regular Service Meetings.
  • Ensure all documentation is completed accurately.
  • Assist and monitor other Engineers or Junior Engineers as needed.
  • Report on Junior Engineers' performance, including punctuality.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Vehicle: A company vehicle will be provided. Maintain it per the 'Vehicle Operating Rules', keep it clean, and report any damage immediately.
  • Mobile Telephone: Keep the phone in working order, charged, and report repairs promptly.
  • Safety: Follow company and local procedures to ensure safety, quality, security, and environmental compliance. Wear appropriate attire and carry identification.
  • Comply with BS EN ISO9001:2000 and NSI (NACOSS) procedures.
  • Perform any reasonable management requests.
