Job summary

Varys Capital is seeking a data-driven investment professional to expand deal flow across crypto-focused opportunities. The role includes financial modeling, due diligence, market research, and coordinating with portfolio teams while supporting senior decision-makers.

You will engage with founders and service providers, analyze DeFi yield opportunities, and assist in negotiating term sheets and liquidity strategies as the fund deploys capital globally.

Qualifications

• Fluent English in speaking and writing is required.
• Genuine interest in the digital asset industry and crypto markets.
• Proven track record executing investment deals (buy or sell side).
• Strong analytical skills and portfolio mechanics understanding.
• Familiarity with DeFi strategies, yields, and TVL mandates.

Responsibilities

• Assist in expanding and managing the firm's deal flow with interested projects.
• Conduct financial modeling, valuation, and due diligence analyses.
• Perform market research to identify new investment trends and partnerships.
• Track exposure and KPIs while rebalance the portfolio as needed.
• Create briefs on investments for the investor base.
• Negotiate terms with Head of Venture and GP; assist with exits and liquidity strategies.
• Coordinate with quantitative trading for listings and liquidity provisioning.
• Assess DeFi yield opportunities including liquidity and staking.
• Support LOIs and investment documentation; assist deployment and divestment phases.
• Attend events to advance the firm’s agenda domestically and internationally.

Position Brief

The fund is now 18 months into its investment period in VARVCF SP1, with a mandate directed towards Fintech/Trade tooling, Infrastructure, DeFi primitives, and emerging verticals.
The distributed team offers global coverage and unparalleled deal flow. Varys Capital enters during the earliest stages of the investment cycle (Seed, Series A), typically contributing capital to later rounds.

Requirements

Must-Have

• Must be fluent in English (both verbal and written);
• Have a genuine interest and belief in the digital asset industry;
• Possess strong analytical skills and have limited experience in the finance industry;
• Must have a proven track record of executing successful deals (buy or sell side);
• Understand the mechanics related to managing a venture portfolio;
• Have familiairty with DeFi strategies, operations, platforms, yield opportunities, and TVL mandates;
• Have a passion for negotiating and be capable of meeting deadlines;
• Working knowledge and experience of crypto-assets and blockchain technology; and
• Familiar with Excel and Google interfaces.

Nice-to-Have

• M&A or trading experience is a plus (but not required);
• Liquidity sourcing and managemtn experience; and
• Having a financial designation or license isn’t necessary, but is a plus.

Role & Responsibilities

• Assist in expanding and managing the firm's deal flow, engaging projects of interest, communicating with company staff, and liaising with service providers;
• Performing financial modeling, valuation analysis, and due diligence (e.g., deep metric assessment, quantitative and qualitative modeling, economic evaluations, etc.);
• Perform market research to help identify new investment trends and opportunities while generating and reinforcing strategic partnerships;
• Track investment exposure, liquid/illiquid supply, and other KPIs (key performance indicators) in addition to continuously rebalancing the portfolio;
• Create briefs on recent investments that are distributed to the fund's investor base;
• Work with the Head of Venture and GP to negotiate favorable terms and develop strategies related to token exits, liquidity provisioning, mergers, and acquisitions;
• Work closely with the fund's quantitative trading division for exchange listings, market-making efforts, and liquidity provisioning;
• Source, analyze, and assess the viability of various DeFi yield opportunities (e.g., liquidity, staking, liquidity pools);
• Assist in the negotiation of term sheets, offering LOIs, and assisting in the finalization of investment documentation;
• Assist in the management of the venture budget, especially during the fund's deployment and divestment phases;
• Attend events, seminars, roadshows, and blockchain/financial networking events to further the agenda of the firm both domestically and internationally; and
• Utilize company interfaces and repositories to maintain secure records.
