About the position

We are looking for a research assistant within the FROST project at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at NTNU in Norway.The candidate shall work in the project “Framework for Offshore Wind Turbines in Icy Conditions” (FROST). The project is led by Institute for Energy Research (IFE) in Norway and is a European project with Norwegian industry and both Norwegian and European academic partners.

About the position

We need a candidate who can work with programming and data-analysis on sea ice and sea ice interaction with structures. Required competence is good programming skills in MatLab and Python, and preferably with knowledge about probabilistic analysis and statistics.

Required selection criteria

The position as Research Assistant 1020 should give you the opportunity to gain insight into scientific or artistic work and method. The assignments are at an academic level and must consist of scientific or artistic assistance.

The appointment is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants and national guidelines for appointment as PhD, post doctor and research assistant.

  • A master’s degree or similar in one of the following: Engineering, Applied physics, Applied mathematics or Statistics
  • Good knowledge in MatLab and Python programming
  • Good written and oral English language skills

  • Interest in offshore wind and development of offshore wind parks
  • Interested in learning new things and developing new competence

Salary and conditions

Research assistants are remunerated in code 1020 depending on competence, and are normally remunerated at gross from NOK 547 500 per annum before tax, depending on qualifications and seniority. For a period of until one year.

The engagement is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants, and the acts relating to Control of the Export of Strategic Goods, Services and Technology. Candidates who by assessment of the application and attachment are seen to conflict with the criteria in the latter law will be prohibited from recruitment to NTNU.
