Job summary

VARD seeks an Engineer - Energy Control Systems in Norway to develop PLC software for advanced marine energy control systems. You will work with CODESYS and TwinCAT, and develop HMI/GUI applications, following software from design to FAT and commissioning.

You will join a team focused on modular software, version control, simulation, and thorough testing to ensure reliability in marine power management and distribution systems.

Qualifications

• Higher education in automation, control systems, electrical engineering or software engineering; relevant experience may compensate.
• Experience with PLC programming and IEC 61131-3 (CODESYS/TwinCAT)
• Structured Text (ST) experience is relevant
• HMI/GUI development for industrial/automation systems
• Understanding of industrial control systems and integration
• Experience with Git or version-control is an advantage
• Experience with drives, power management, Energy Storage or marine automation is a plus
• Good written and spoken English

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain PLC software in CODESYS and TwinCAT for Energy Control Systems and SeaQ products
• Develop HMI/GUI applications for monitoring, operation, diagnostics and configuration
• Design and implement reusable software functions, control sequences, interlocks and alarms
• Contribute to software architecture and development through R&D and product development
• Integrate PLC software with Drives, Energy Storage, switchboards and protection systems
• Perform software testing, simulation, IAT and FAT
• Troubleshoot software and system behavior during integration, testing and commissioning
• Support project deliveries from specification through installation and commissioning
• Handle technical clarifications with customers, suppliers and classification societies
• Contribute to continuous improvement of software development, version control, testing and release processes
