We are seeking an Associate Professor/Professor in Supply Chain Management to join the Production Management Research Group at the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MTP) at NTNU, an internationally recognized environment for research in production, logistics, and industrial systems. Supported by the state-of-the-art Logistics 4.0 Lab, the group conducts cutting-edge research in close collaboration with industry and leading international partners, with projects funded by the EU, the Research Council of Norway, and other major funding bodies. We are looking for an experienced researcher who can strengthen and expand our capabilities through research excellence, industry engagement, and external collaboration. You bring a strong understanding of industrial challenges and opportunities, enabling you to build meaningful partnerships and translate research into impact. Through your experience, professional network, and fresh perspectives, you will help shape new research directions, strengthen our collaboration with industry, and further develop our international standing. As part of our group, you will contribute to developing future engineers and managers capable of designing, implementing, and improving integrated supply chains that connect people, products, materials, information, technologies, and resources across the entire value chain. Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MTP) at NTNU offers a vibrant and interdisciplinary research environment spanning logistics, production management, robotics, product development, materials science, and risk and reliability. We combine academic excellence with strong industrial relevance and are committed to fostering an open, collaborative, and inclusive community. The department offers education at all levels, from Bachelor's and Master's programs to PhD studies, within mechanical- management-, and industrial engineering, along with ICT. We welcome candidates who take a holistic and interdisciplinary approach to supply chain management, combining perspectives from industrial engineering and management, and decision science, with computer science, social science, natural science. Particular interest will be given to research addressing the role of emerging technologies, such as AI and digital technologies in enabling resilient, sustainable, circular, and high-performing supply chains that support the future of Norwegian and global industry, as well as their seamless integration in raw material sourcing, product development and supply chain design, and end-of-life product and material recovery and r-strategies. Your immediate leader is Head of Department.
You must have the qualifications required for the position of Professor or Associate Professor in the field of supply chain management, as outlined in the regulations concerning appointment and promotion to teaching and research posts.
To qualify for this Professor or Associate Professor position, we require the following:
In a position as Professor (code 1013) you will normally be remunerated from gross NOK 800000 to NOK 1000000 per year, depending on qualifications and seniority.
In a position as Associate Professor (code 1011) you will normally be remunerated from gross NOK 600000 to NOK 800000 per year, depending on qualifications and seniority.
As required by law, 2% of this salary will be deducted and paid into the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.
The engagement is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants, and the acts relating to Control of the Export of Strategic Goods, Services and Technology. Candidates who by assessment of the application and attachment are seen to conflict with the criteria in the latter law will be prohibited from recruitment to NTNU.
