Job summary

Oslo University Hospital invites applications for a PhD Candidate in transplantation research. The 100% fixed-term position spans three years, starting fall 2026, funded by Helse Sør-Øst and linked to the MITOFUNCTION project.

The role involves hepatic cell experiments, mitochondrial studies, and collaboration on liver machine perfusion within a large multidisciplinary group at OUH and UiO. Requires strong molecular biology skills and English proficiency.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree within physiology, molecular or cellular biology or completed medical education.
  • English proficiency demonstrated according to UiO PhD requirements.
  • Courses at master's level must have an average grade of B or better.
  • Must fulfil admission criteria for uptake on the PhD program at the University of Oslo; to be evaluated during recruitment.
  • Personal suitability is important in the selection process.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop and manage hepatocyte cell work and mitochondria experiments.
  • Compile, process, and analyse research data.
  • Collaborate on research activities involving machine perfusion of human livers.
  • Execute tasks independently and within a collaborative research environment.
