Job summary

Volta is seeking an OT Systems Subject Matter Expert to define OT standards, reference architectures and cybersecurity requirements across our European and North American AI factories. You will guide design reviews, commissioning and handover, ensuring OT controls, BMS/EPMS/SCADA systems and DCIM are integrated securely and reliably.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in OT, industrial control or building automation, with 3+ years in mission-critical environments such as data centres, utilities, pharma or nuclear
• Hands-on experience designing, integrating, configuring and troubleshooting BMS, EPMS, SCADA, PLC and DCIM systems
• Deliver OT scope through design, construction and full commissioning of critical facilities
• Experience implementing OT cybersecurity controls and secure remote access in live operational environments, with knowledge of OT cybersecurity standards and frameworks
• Strong understanding of OT architectures and industrial protocols (Modbus TCP/RTU, BACnet IP/MSTP, SNMP, IEC 61850)
• Solid understanding of data centre critical infrastructure and control strategies (MV/LV power, UPS, generators, cooling, fire detection)
• Knowledge of alarm management, change management and safe working practices on live systems
• Experience managing system integrators, OEMs and service providers across multi-site, multi-country portfolios
• Clear written and verbal communication to explain technical risk to non-technical and senior stakeholders
• Excellent organisation and prioritisation across multiple projects and sites
• A degree in Electrical, Control, Automation, Mechatronics or Computer Engineering or equivalent
• Vendor certifications in leading BMS/EPMS/SCADA platforms and data centre certifications are a plus
• Willing to undergo background screening per Volta Vetting Policy

Responsibilities

• Act as the technical authority for OT across Volta's AI factories, owning OT system standards and reference architectures
• Review and approve OT designs, control philosophies, points lists and sequences of operation for new builds, expansions and retrofits
• Lead OT input into commissioning and sign off OT readiness for handover to Operations
• Implement the OT cybersecurity framework with IT, including network segmentation, access control, patching and vulnerability management
• Maintain accurate OT asset inventory and network documentation across all sites
• Provide escalation support for OT incidents and drive corrective actions
• Govern OT change management with risk assessment and zero customer impact
• Manage OT vendors, system integrators and OEMs across multi-site portfolios
• Coordinate OT/IT integration, data flows and alarm management with Design, IT, Construction and Site Ops
• Keep OT standards consistent across sites with templates and graphics
• Ensure OT resilience through redundancy reviews and disaster recovery planning
• Comply with Volta Operating Principles, safety rules and SLAs
• Drive continuous improvement through analytics and energy optimisation
• Develop OT training material to raise competence across Operations
