Job summary

Head Energy Consulting AS is seeking a Mechanical Technician/Mechanic to install and modify mechanical components on rail vehicles, using drawings and 3D models. You will work from rail vehicle frames, install and retrofit components, and support electricians with routing and installation pathways.

The role requires a trade certificate and ability to read English technical drawings, with a focus on safety and quality.

Qualifications

  • Trade certificate or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and understand English technical drawings.
  • Comfortable using digital tools and working from 3D models.
  • Experience with mechanical assembly, installation, or maintenance.
  • Experience from rail, automotive, or heavy industry is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Install brackets, piping supports, and other mechanical components.
  • Remove existing equipment and components from rail vehicles.
  • Install new train components, including antennas, speed sensors, and other technical equipment.
  • Perform mechanical modifications and retrofit activities on rolling stock.
  • Assist electricians with routing systems and installation pathways beneath the train.
  • Carry out drilling and mechanical work in aluminum car bodies and supporting structures.
  • Utilize technical drawings, digital tools, and 3D models during installation activities.
  • Complete required quality and installation documentation, including signed checklists.
  • Provide technical support and expertise to technicians and installers on site.
  • Follow all Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) requirements and procedures.
