Job summary

Nscale, a Norway-based data centre developer, seeks an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to lead mechanical delivery for hyperscale projects. You will oversee design coordination through construction, commissioning and handover, ensuring safe, compliant and high-performance cooling and plant infrastructure.

This owner-side role requires strong technical knowledge of HVAC, piping and controls, with a focus on integration with Electrical and Controls teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years experience in mechanical delivery for data centres or mission-critical projects.
• Degree or qualification in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, liquid cooling and mechanical controls.
• Experience coordinating design, installation and commissioning.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
• Familiar with project reporting and scheduling tools.

• Ensure compliance with local electrical codes, standards and HSE regulations.
• Review and validate design drawings, submittals and documentation.

• Oversee QA, inspections and testing during installation and commissioning.
• Support IST and document verification of mechanical systems.
• Conduct regular coordination meetings with contractors, consultants, and internal teams.

Mechanical Project Manager – Data Centre Construction

Location: Site-Based in Norway 5 days per week. Initially in Narvik, with flexibility to change in future.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to oversee all mechanical system delivery for Nscale’s hyperscale data centre projects. You will manage the technical execution of mechanical packages from design coordination through construction, commissioning, and handover.

This owner-side role requires strong technical knowledge of cooling systems, HVAC, piping, and plant infrastructure. You will ensure mechanical works are designed, installed, and commissioned to meet Nscale’s safety, performance, and quality standards, while maintaining seamless integration with other building systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee all mechanical construction activities, ensuring works meet design intent, schedule, and technical standards.
• Ensure compliance with local electrical codes, statutory requirements, applicable standards, and HSE regulations relevant to the project location
• Review and validate design drawings, submittals, and technical documentation for constructability and compliance.
• Manage on-site interfaces between mechanical systems and other disciplines (Electrical, Controls, CSA)
• Monitor and report on progress, identify risks, and support schedule recovery planning across all mechanical packages, ensuring visibility and alignment across the wider delivery team.
• Oversee quality assurance, inspections, and testing throughout installation and commissioning phases.
• Support integrated systems testing (IST) and ensure complete verification and documentation of mechanical systems.
• Conduct regular coordination meetings with contractors, consultants, and internal teams to maintain alignment and resolve issues.
• Promote a culture of safety, technical excellence, and continuous improvement across all project activities.

Qualifications

• 7+ years’ experience managing mechanical delivery, including within data centre or mission-critical projects.
• Degree or qualification in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of HVAC, liquid cooling, and mechanical controls (experience with AI/HPC data centers and cooling systems—including DTC, TCS, and CDU is an advantage)
• Proven experience in coordinating design, installation, and commissioning activities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Familiar with project reporting and scheduling tools.
