Librarian Assistant

We are excited to offer a full-time position for a Librarian Assistant in the beautiful city of Svalbard. As a Librarian Assistant, you will work under the supervision of the Head Librarian to assist with daily tasks and provide support to library patrons.

Responsibilities

• - Help patrons locate materials and answer general questions about library resources
• - Check-in and check-out materials using automated library system
• - Process new materials for circulation
• - Shelve books and maintain organization of library collection
• - Assist with collection development by researching and recommending new materials
• - Provide basic technology assistance to patrons, such as troubleshooting printers and computers
• - Assist with planning and hosting library events and programs
• - Maintain cleanliness and order in the library space

Requirements

• - High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field preferred
• - Previous experience working in a library setting is preferred but not required
• - Strong customer service skills and ability to work well with diverse populations
• - Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software quickly
• - Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to multitask effectively
• - Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods of time
