Brookshire Grocery Company is seeking a Kitchen Team Member to prepare and cook foods by following established recipes while maintaining stock levels and ensuring product quality and safe storage temperatures.

You will support kitchen staff, operate equipment like slicers and ovens, adhere to safety standards, keep a clean workspace, and help promote product sales through friendly service and accurate labeling.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18 years.
• Food Handler certification required.
• On-the-job training provided.

Responsibilities

• Follow established recipes to exact specification of the chef and ensure consistency in quality, taste and presentation.
• Assist kitchen staff with cooking, slicing, weighing, packaging, labeling and maintaining product displays.
• Adhere to quality control and food safety standards by stocking and rotating prepared foods.
• Stack pallets and sort product according to company efficiency standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe and sanitary working and shopping environment per safety procedures.
• Provide friendly, customer-service oriented attitude and handle special order requests by phone or in person.
• Promote product sales through suggestive selling initiatives.

Job Summary

Prepares and cooks food by following basic to moderate established recipes. Maintains stock levels and product quality by monitoring dates, appearance, and storage temperature controls.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Follows established recipes to exact specification of the chef. Ensures prepared foods are consistent in quality, taste, and presentation.


• Assists kitchen personnel with cooking, slicing, weighing, packaging, labeling, pricing, and maintaining product displays.


• Adheres to quality control and food safety standards by stocking and rotating prepared foods.


• Stacks pallets and sorts product into correct locations according to Company efficiency standards and expectations.


• Maintains clean, safe and sanitary working and shopping environment by adhering to Company safety procedures.


• Provides friendly and customer-service-oriented attitude by greeting customers, answering questions and taking special order requests by phone and in person.


• Promotes product sales through use of suggestive selling initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Basic mathematical skills for the purpose of following recipes.


• Ability to safely operate hazardous tools and equipment such as a cheese/meat slicer, commercial oven, etc.


• Ability to read and operate digital equipment, meters, dials, and/or calibrated scales.


• Ability to learn new systems, methods, or processes.


• Ability to use precision and non-precision hand tools.


• Ability to work well with fellow partners and promote a team environment.


• Ability to effectively communicate (in written and verbal form) with partners and customers.


• Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays.


• Must be attentive to potential hazards and remedy or place appropriate warning signs or devices around or near the hazard as soon as is reasonably possible.


• Must report any potential hazards that cannot be immediately remedied to a supervisor.

Education, Experience And Qualifications

• Minimum of 18 years of age required.


• Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for Company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy.


• Food Handler certification required.


• Typically involves on-the-job training.
