Penguin Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Hydrogeologist to join our team in London or Newcastle. This role blends field site work with technical assessment across infrastructure, renewables, minerals, waste and property projects.

You’ll work on site investigations, groundwater monitoring, licensing, and EIA reporting while developing your expertise and career within a supportive hydrogeology and environmental team.

Qualifications

• Degree in a hydrogeology-related subject is required.
• 1–3 years’ hydrogeology experience preferred in consultancy.
• Full UK driving licence is required.

Got your first couple of years in Hydrogeology behind you and looking for more responsibility across both site work and technical assessment?

This is a good opportunity to build broader experience rather than becoming tied to one particular type of project. You’ll join an established Hydrogeology & Water team, working across infrastructure, renewables, minerals, waste and property projects from initial investigation through to assessment and reporting.

The Role

You’ll be involved in:

• Hydrogeological site investigations and site walkovers
• Supervising borehole drilling, geological logging and well installation
• Groundwater and surface water monitoring programmes
• Interpreting monitoring data and developing Conceptual Site Models
• Hydrogeological Risk Assessments and Impact Appraisals
• Hydrogeological calculations and groundwater modelling
• Groundwater abstraction licensing
• EIA water chapters and technical reporting

There is a good mix of practical and technical work, alongside experienced Hydrogeologists and wider environmental and engineering teams.

About You

You’ll ideally have 1-3 years’ Hydrogeology experience within consultancy or a similar commercial environment, with a degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Earth Sciences or a related subject.

A grounding in site investigation, water monitoring and hydrogeological assessment is important. Experience of groundwater modelling, abstraction licensing or EIA would be useful, but you don’t need to have covered everything.

A full UK driving licence is required.
