Job summary

Bergen municipality is seeking a confident head of department for Child Welfare Duty and Reception 1 to lead professional staff, manage finances and daily operations, and ensure safe and effective emergency preparedness outside ordinary hours.

You will collaborate with the head of department for Duty and Reception 2 to create a unified service area, develop competencies, and maintain high professional quality in services for children and families.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience with personnel responsibility is required.
• Strong written and oral communication in English or Norwegian? (as applicable)
• Experience from municipal child welfare services or crisis work is desirable.
• Good understanding of documentation requirements and children's participation rights.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the department with emphasis on emergency preparedness.
• Ensure safe operations, staffing and prioritisation.
• Prepare and follow up on rota/shift schedules per service needs.
• Oversee personnel development, competence building, and recruitment.
• Ensure professional quality, internal control and management by objectives.
• Maintain cooperation with safety representatives and other partners.
• Foster collaboration between Child Welfare Duty and Reception 1 and 2.
• Promote cross-department standardisation and joint development.
• Engage with urban child welfare services and police/Bufetat as needed.
• Participate in management group and service area development.
• Perform delegated tasks from unit manager.
