Job summary

A leading data center company in Oslo is seeking a Design Manager to lead the technical delivery of design and build-out projects. You will ensure sustainability and quality in every stage of development for state-of-the-art data centers across the Nordics. The ideal candidate has 5–7 years of experience in electrical or mechanical engineering and a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field. The role offers opportunities to travel and requires strong communication and problem-solving skills.

About the Role

As our Design Manager, you will lead the technical and commercial delivery of design and build-out projects for atNorth’s state-of-the-art data centers in Norway, Sweden and other Nordic countries. Working closely with our Development, Procurement, and Engineering teams, you’ll ensure standardization, quality, and sustainability are embedded in every stage of our development process. This is a key role where your decisions will directly influence the performance, reliability, and environmental impact of our data centers.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and implement atNorth’s standard design and infrastructure solutions across Nordic sites.
  • Act as the technical and commercial expert throughout project lifecycles.
  • Oversee the design phase and support construction, ensuring alignment with gating, cost, sustainability, and HSE processes.
  • Coordinate external A&E consultants and internal stakeholders to deliver efficient, cost-optimized solutions.
  • Assist site selection by evaluating brownfield/greenfield opportunities and master planning.
  • Review Capex budgets and assess technical risk in expansion, retrofits, or new builds.
  • Support technical incident investigations and drive continuous design improvements.
  • Ensure sustainability opportunities are prioritized and environmental impact is minimized.
About You:
  • 5–7 years of experience in electrical or mechanical engineering
  • Experience in infrastructure or construction projects (preferably data centers)
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering
  • Understanding of data center equipment and critical infrastructure
  • Basic knowledge of building management systems and civil/structural engineering
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Fluent in English; Swedish or Norwegian are considered as a strong merit
  • Proactive, self-driven, and adaptable mindset
  • Willingness to travel across the Nordics, including outside regular business hours
