Job summary

Hydro is seeking a Data Governance Lead to establish and drive the global data governance program, ensuring trusted data for analytics and responsible AI across the organisation.

You will collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to define ownership, governance practices, and data quality to enable value creation, compliance, and innovation.

Qualifications

  • Higher degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, STEM, or similar.
  • Experience with data governance, data management, analytics, digital transformation, or management consulting.
  • Understanding of data quality, metadata management, data platforms, and analytics.
  • Excellent English skills; Norwegian is an advantage.
  • Experience supporting AI or advanced analytics initiatives is an advantage.

  • Data governance leadership: Establish and implement Hydro's data governance framework, policies, and operating model.
  • Data quality, compliance & risk management: Develop governance standards and processes that ensure data is accessible, secure, and of high quality throughout its lifecycle.
  • Data strategy & AI enablement: Support Hydro's Data & Analytics strategy by enabling trusted data for analytics, AI, and emerging digital capabilities.
  • Stakeholder management & capability building: Facilitate the Data Governance Council and collaborate with business, IT, legal, compliance, and digital teams.

What you will be doing
  • Data governance leadership: Establish and implement Hydro's data governance framework, policies, and operating model. Define decision rights, data ownership, stewardship responsibilities, and accountability across the organization.
  • Data quality, compliance & risk management: Develop governance standards and processes that ensure data is accessible, secure, and of high quality throughout its lifecycle. Support compliance with relevant regulations and internal requirements.
  • Data strategy & AI enablement: Support Hydro's Data & Analytics strategy by enabling trusted data for analytics, AI, and emerging digital capabilities. Promote responsible AI practices and help drive business value through well-governed data.
  • Stakeholder management & capability building: Facilitate the Data Governance Council and collaborate with business, IT, legal, compliance, and digital teams. Promote governance best practices and strengthen data management capabilities across Hydro.
What will make you successful?
  • Education: A relevant higher degree within Business Administration, Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, STEM disciplines, or similar.
  • Professional experience: Experience with data governance, data management, analytics, digital transformation, or management consulting. Experience working across complex organizations is highly valued.
  • Data & AI expertise: Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, metadata management, data platforms, and analytics. Experience supporting AI or advanced analytics initiatives is an advantage.
  • Communication & relationships: You are a strong communicator who can engage stakeholders across business and technology functions. Excellent English skills are required, while Norwegian is an advantage.
  • Leadership & execution: Structured, proactive, and comfortable driving initiatives across multiple stakeholders. Able to translate governance principles into practical ways of working that create business value
