Your New Role...

Warner Bros. Discovery Legal is seeking a Legal Counsel in Norway to join our Nordic Legal team for a one-year fixed term assignment. This role will replace an existing function and provide critical legal support primarily in Norway but also across the Nordic region in a dynamic, fast-paced environment within a constantly evolving media industry.

This position is based in Oslo, where you will report directly to VP, Legal, Nordics, also located in Oslo.

In Norway, our portfolio includes the flagship TV channel TVNorge, a broad family of entertainment channels such as FEM, REX, VOX, Discovery Channel, TLC, and Eurosport, as well as the streaming service HBO Max. Together, these platforms offer a rich and diverse catalogue that makes us one of the leading challengers in the Norwegian commercial TV market.

Your Role Accountabilities...
Commercial & Regulatory Support:
  • Provide day-to-day legal guidance to the business locally and across the Nordics on a wide range of commercial and regulatory matters relevant to a broadcaster, including broadcasting regulation, marketing, consumer law, and copyright law.
Contract Drafting & Negotiation:
  • Draft, review and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including partnership, procurement (goods and services), consultant and advertising/sponsorship agreements.
Collaboration with Global Legal Teams:
  • Provide support and guidance to global legal teams in specialist areas as required.
Operational Implementation:
  • Execute local tasks aligned with global legal deliverables and ensure compliance with corporate policies and standards.
General Legal Support:
  • General support to VP, Legal, Nordics and the wider Nordic Legal team on ad hoc matters as requested.
Qualifications & Experience...
  • Norwegian law degree.
  • Minimum 2 years of post-qualification experience, preferably in media, broadcasting, or technology sectors.
  • Strong experience in drafting commercial contracts.
  • Proven experience in giving fast and efficient business‑minded legal support.
  • Knowledge of broadcasting regulation and related legal frameworks is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across multiple markets.
  • Excellent knowledge of business English and Norwegian is required.
