UiT The Arctic University of Norway seeks a PhD Fellow in the NCFS–BFE unit to study molecular ecology of fishes and Arctic communities using eDNA, tissues, and surveys. The project is part of Arctic Ocean 2050 and aims to illuminate biodiversity and interactions in the Arctic Ocean.

The position is a four-year contract (with three years of research training and a 25% teaching component). Admission to the PhD programme is required, and the start will be after a successful offer.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in molecular ecology, molecular biology, or genetics by employment.
• Experience with DNA extraction from tissues, communities, or environmental samples.
• Experience with PCR or qPCR.
• Experience with bioinformatic or statistical analysis of DNA sequence data.
• Knowledge of taxonomy of fishes and other marine aquatic taxa.
• Proficient in English.
