Job Purpose and Impact

Are you passionate about aquaculture industry and you love to work in a hardworking team of dedicated professionals? We are looking for an Animal Care Technician primarily responsible for the execution of approved protocols for animal studies in a safe, accurate and timely fashion! You will conduct research trials with collecting data that includes animal weighing, feeding, and various types of samplings. You will also be responsible for providing standard animal husbandry and housekeeping duties.

Oltesvik/Dirdal

This position is temporary covering a paternity leave, starting on 1st of March until 31st of December 2026.

Key Accountabilities
  • Basic building and equipment maintenance and troubling shooting.
  • Contribute to continuous evaluation and improvement of experimental methodology, daily routines and procedures.
  • Maintain safe working conditions according to our safety program and meeting animal welfare standards in accordance with animal policies.
  • Execute predefined protocols and standard operating procedures, like feeding, sample collection, animal observation, disease recognition, euthanizing, carcass disposal and compile accurate data, observations/deviations and trial quality measurement on time and in scope.
  • Handle complex clerical, administrative, technical or customer support issues under minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma, secondary education level or equivalent
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, adapt and be solution oriented
  • Compelling and authentic communications skills, both written and oral in Norwegian and adequate level of English language.
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Proven related work experience
  • May require occasional travel (trial activities at other sites, courses, seminars, training or others)
  • Participate in weekend shifts in various animal units if required from time to time, including holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • D6 boat certificate
  • Experience in working with experimental animals.
