ALTEK AI is hiring its first internal engineer to join the product and technology team in Oslo. You’ll help define how we build technology, take ideas from prototype to production, and shape the stack from Python back end to React front end.

You’ll work with LLMs, AI agents, tool calling, and PAP protocols, delivering production‑quality systems for hotels worldwide while growing into technical leadership.

Join us and build the AI layer that runs hotels around the world

Altek AI is a Norwegian AI startup building the technology that automates hotel operations, starting with guest communication. Founded in 2024 by two technical co-founders, we've grown in under two years from our first customer to 120 hotels signed across 8 countries, approaching NOK 4M in ARR, with several major hotel chains in the pipeline. We're now scaling further internationally, including into the US, and raising a seed round to accelerate that growth.

Today, our core product is AI Email, which already gives hotels contextual reply suggestions based on availability, pricing, and reservations, powered by AI agents that pull information from the hotel's various systems. The ambition goes far beyond email: over time, these agents will also automate the research, coordination, and execution behind decisions. AI Phone is next, but we’re also preparing for a bigger shift: with new standards like the Personal Agent Protocol (PAP), a guest’s AI agent will be able to book directly with a hotel’s agent. We want to build that agent-to-agent infrastructure for the hotel industry, and we’re looking for someone who wants to be at the forefront of it.

About the role

The founders can no longer own all technical development themselves, so we're hiring our very first internal engineer. You'll join the product and technology team, report to both founders, and help define how we build technology going forward. This isn't a role where you implement a finished roadmap.

You'll get to:

• Build and evolve AI agents and LLM systems in production, including tool calling/skills, evaluation and agent-to-agent infrastructure
• Experiment with and implement the Personal Agent Protocol (PAP), a brand-new and experimental technology, and help shape how hotels connect to the agents their guests use
• Define the logic for when AI should act on its own, and when a human should be involved
• Work across the whole stack, from architecture and backend in Python to frontend in React/TypeScript
• Take things from idea and prototype to production, and iterate quickly based on real usage
• Keep a close eye on the AI landscape, test new technologies quickly, and give clear recommendations on what will work in our system

The role is designed as a tech lead position, but we’re equally open to a more junior engineer who wants to focus on building, with the option to grow into technical leadership over time. Either way, joining this early means significant growth potential.

Who we're looking for

We care more about what you’ve built than how many years you’ve worked. You might be an experienced engineer, or someone earlier in your career who builds and experiments constantly and can back it up with real projects. In both cases, we’re looking for:

• A strong software engineer with solid experience in Python and backend development, and enough frontend (React/TypeScript) to build a full-stack solution yourself
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, and ideally with AI agents and tool calling/skills
• Experience taking systems from prototype to production, and an understanding of the difference between a demo and something that has to be stable for real customers every day. Experience running agents in production will make you stand out
• Someone who stays up to date, tests new things as soon as they come out, and has clear opinions on what works, while staying open to being challenged
• Comfortable working independently and making decisions without everything being specified upfront
• Fluent in English, spoken and written. Norwegian is a plus, not a requirement

We build with Python and FastAPI, React/TypeScript, LLMs and AI agents, tool calling and evals, all on Google Cloud. You don’t need experience with this exact stack. We’re an early‑stage company, so specific frameworks and tools can be learned on the job, and you’ll help shape the technical choices we make going forward.

Remote status: Mainly office-based (Oslo), with some flexibility
