Job summary

HCLTech is seeking a seasoned VMware Cloud Foundation Architect to lead the assessment, design, and deployment of a VCF-based hybrid cloud environment for enterprise customers. The role requires deep expertise in VCF, vSphere, NSX-T, and related tooling, with a track record of modernizing private clouds.

The candidate will drive architecture, automation, and governance, collaborating with cross-functional teams while ensuring alignment with design standards and security policies.

Qualifications

• Deep hands-on expertise with VMware Cloud Foundation (4.x/5.x).
• Strong knowledge of vSphere, vSAN, NSX-T, and SDDC Manager.
• Experience with VCF deployment automation using VMware Lifecycle Manager, PowerCLI, or Ansible.
• Familiarity with VMware Aria Suite (vRealize), HCX, and hybrid cloud integrations.
• VCIX/VCAP/VCDX certifications preferred (DCV or NV tracks).

Job Summary:

We are seeking a seasoned VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Architect to lead the assessment, design, and deployment of a VCF-based hybrid cloud environment. The ideal candidate will engage with enterprise customers who already operate a VMware-based private cloud and are looking to modernize and consolidate their infrastructure using VCF.

Key Responsibilities:

Assessment Phase:

• Evaluate existing VMware infrastructure (vSphere, vSAN, NSX, etc.) and operational processes.
• Conduct gap analysis between current environment and VCF architecture standards.
• Engage stakeholders to understand business and technical requirements.
• Provide recommendations and roadmaps for VCF adoption, considering TCO and ROI.

Design Phase:

• Create high-level and low-level VCF architecture and deployment designs.
• Design management domains, workload domains, network topology, and security policies.
• Align VCF components with enterprise architecture, security, and compliance frameworks.
• Select and design integrations with automation tools (e.g., vRealize Suite, Aria), backup platforms, and external services.

Build and Implementation Phase:

• Lead the deployment of VCF 9 infrastructure including SDDC Manager, vCenter, NSX-T, and vSAN.
• Migrate workloads from legacy private cloud to VCF with minimal disruption.
• Automate provisioning and lifecycle management using VCF workflows and APIs.
• Validate solution with performance testing, HA/DR planning, and operational handover.
• Act as technical lead and SME throughout the VCF transformation project.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including network, security, storage, and DevOps.
• Ensure alignment with VMware Validated Designs and best practices.
• Document all architectural decisions, designs, runbooks, and SOPs.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Deep hands-on expertise with VMware Cloud Foundation (4.x/5.x).
• Strong knowledge of vSphere, vSAN, NSX-T, and SDDC Manager.
• Experience with VCF deployment automation using VMware Lifecycle Manager, PowerCLI, or Ansible.
• Familiarity with VMware Aria Suite (vRealize), HCX, and hybrid cloud integrations.
• Proven experience in migrating or re-platforming workloads to VCF.
• Strong understanding of networking (VXLAN, BGP/OSPF, overlays), storage, and security policies.
• VMware certifications preferred: VCIX / VCAP / VCDX (especially in DCV or NV tracks).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in designing VCF environments for large enterprises.
• Familiarity with public cloud integration (VMware on AWS, Azure VMware Solution, etc.).
• ITIL or TOGAF familiarity is a plus.
• Strong client-facing and communication skills, including executive-level presentations.
