Job summary

IVC Evidensia Nederland’s Dierenziekenhuis Het Noorden in Groningen is seeking an Emergency & Inpatient Veterinarian to triage, admit, stabilise and treat emergency and hospitalised patients requiring acute medical care. You will develop treatment plans and closely monitor progress, ensuring high-quality care throughout stays.

The role requires a veterinary degree, veterinary registration, and the ability to work 32 hours weekly on a rotating schedule (day/evening/night/weekend).

Qualifications

• You hold a veterinary degree and are registered with the veterinary professional register.
• You have (extensive) experience as an Emergency & Inpatient Veterinarian, or you are ready to take the next step from general practice to a veterinary referral hospital.
• You are available to work 32 hours per week.
• You have a good command of Dutch and/or English, both written and spoken.
• You are available to work a rotating schedule, including day, evening, night, and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

• Triage, admit, stabilise, and treat emergency and hospitalised patients requiring acute medical care.
• Develop treatment plans and closely monitor patients’ progress.
• Ensure patients receive appropriate care and monitoring throughout their stay.

In 2025, we opened the doors of our largest and newest veterinary hospital, Dierenziekenhuis Het Noorden, in the beautiful city of Groningen. Located in a well‑equipped facility surrounded by green space, we are looking for an Emergency & Inpatient Veterinarian to join our team.

What will you do?

As an Emergency & Inpatient Veterinarian, you will be responsible for triaging, admitting, stabilising, and treating emergency and hospitalised patients requiring acute medical care. You will develop treatment plans, closely monitor patients’ progress, and ensure they receive the appropriate care and monitoring throughout their stay. You will also play an active role in developing and improving protocols within our emergency and inpatient care services.
