Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (HBO/BSc) in Engineering, Life Sciences, Laboratory Technology, or related field.
• Experience with equipment validation, qualification, maintenance, calibration, or technical support in a regulated environment is preferred.
• Strong problem-solving, planning, project coordination, and documentation skills.
• Practical, flexible, and quality-focused approach with good communication to train colleagues and work with partners.

Responsibilities

• Plan and perform IQ/OQ/PQ, including requalification, for laboratory equipment and related software.
• Maintain validated state of equipment, software, and facilities through maintenance, calibration, repairs, and updates.
• Prepare and improve validation protocols, reports, equipment records, SOPs, and other controlled documents.
• Troubleshoot issues using risk assessment and root-cause analysis; implement solutions and identify quality improvements.
• Support selection, implementation, and validation of new equipment and software.
• Train and advise laboratory personnel within the QPS quality system.

Job description

QPS Netherlands is looking for a practical, detail-oriented Validation Engineer to help keep our laboratory equipment, software, and facilities operational, reliable, and compliant across 2 Groningen locations approximately 4 km apart.

QPS is a global, full-service Contract Research Organization (CRO) supporting pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies in developing new medicines.

The Role

Working closely with laboratory teams, Quality, vendors, and technical specialists, you will:

• Plan and perform Installation, Operational, and Performance Qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ), including requalification, for laboratory equipment and related software.
• Maintain the validated state of equipment, software, and facilities by coordinating maintenance, calibration, repairs, and updates.
• Prepare and improve validation protocols, reports, equipment records, SOPs, and other controlled documentation.
• Troubleshoot technical issues using risk assessment and root-cause analysis, implement solutions, and identify opportunities to improve quality and efficiency.
• Support the selection, implementation, and validation of new equipment and software.
• Train and advise laboratory personnel and perform assigned activities within the QPS quality system.

What we seek

• A bachelor’s degree (HBO/BSc) in Engineering, Life Sciences, Laboratory Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Relevant experience with equipment validation, qualification, maintenance, calibration, or technical support, preferably in a regulated environment.
• Strong problem-solving, planning, project coordination, and documentation skills.
• A practical, flexible, and quality-focused approach, with the communication skills to train colleagues and work effectively with internal and external partners.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Experience with laboratory equipment, supporting software, LIMS, or similar systems is preferred.
