Job description

Join our talented design team as a UX Designer specialising in our Bank Employee suite. As a pivotal member, you’ll design experiences for one of our Bank Employee products, while being flexible to support other liaised teams. Based on team goals and the product vision, you guarantee the best execution for the personas and use cases. You fully grasp what Financial Institutions and end-users need, and can deliver a strong and complete user experience that aligns with other parts of our Bank Employee Suite.

Meet the job

As designers we contribute to the success of Backbase products. Our job is to ensure we create what’s wanted and design for efficiency, clarity and trust. We balance what’s good for the end-user, the Financial Institutions, and Backbase business goals. As a UX designer for Bank Employee products, you’ll:

  • Be supporting the product vision in making it a practical reality for our customers;
  • Deliver detailed and complete Figma designs, ready to be implemented by development, which you will also help coordinate;
  • Work with known elements such as our Design System, and liaise with other Bank Employee products and designers;
  • Spar with senior design team members of the team to test your ideas and UX execution, learning from their experience;
  • Be a reliable UX partner to your Product Manager and actively engage in discussions with peers and stakeholders to support decision-making;
  • Understand end-user needs and FI business goals, as well as what makes successful products for Backbase;
  • An active member of the larger design community, keeping up with what’s at play and partaking in the continuous efforts to become a stronger discipline in the company.
How about you

You design strongly practical and functional products, that can be highly specialised and complex. You drive design quality, contributing to the success of the larger suite. For this we think you’ll need:

  • Educational background in UI Component Design, Interactive Design, or User Experience Design;
  • Around 3-4 years of experience in a similar role, working in agile teams, collaborating with developers and QAs;
  • Ideally, experience with designing for complex, information-heavy products and large datasets;
  • A strong sense for consistency, patterns and systems-thinking: to be able to look beyond solving each problem as a one-off;
  • A natural feeling for when to act on speed, and when on quality;
  • You understand Design Systems, applying UX principles and ensuring perfect alignment between functionalities;
  • Proficient in Figma with basic knowledge of HTML and CSS;
  • You have worked with Researchers and/or Service Designers, and have hands‑on experience with validating your designs;
  • You've been part of the journey in software implementation projects, demonstrating your grasp of design processes and how they fit into the bigger picture;
  • You possess professional working proficiency in both English and the local language, enabling effective communication within the team and stakeholders.
