Job summary

Stichting Deltares seeks an AI Security & Governance Specialist to shape the safe and responsible use of AI across our research institute. You will work at the intersection of cybersecurity, governance and innovation, enabling researchers, engineers and business teams to deploy AI while managing risks.

This role goes beyond security: it lays the foundation for reliable AI and requires engagement with diverse disciplines to translate complex topics into practical guidance and controls.

Qualifications

• Experience in cyber security, information security, governance and risk management.
• Ability to translate risks into practical, proportional measures.
• Experience with AI, generative AI and/or emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess security risks related to AI and agentic AI solutions.
• Monitor AI-related threats, vulnerabilities, and attack techniques and translate findings into recommendations.
• Advise colleagues on secure design, implementation and operation of AI
• Develop and maintain practical guidelines, standards and security controls for responsible AI use.
• Support implementation of AI governance frameworks, policies and controls.
• Contribute to regulatory compliance including EU AI Act, GDPR, NIS2, ISO 27001.
• Participate in risk assessments of AI initiatives, research projects and digital services.
• Advise on safe environments for AI experiments and innovation.
• Raise awareness through training and coaching on AI-related risks and opportunities.
• Serve as trusted advisor to management on AI security and governance.
