The Opportunity: Are you passionate about transportation, logistics, and supply chain excellence? As a Transportation & Logistics Specialist at Avantor Fluid Handling, based in Hillegom, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and timely movement of goods throughout our supply chain. You will be responsible for coordinating transportation activities, optimizing logistics processes, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. Your expertise will directly support our commitment to delivering high-quality products to our customers, on time and in full.

Key Responsibilities

As Transportation & Logistics Specialist, you will:

  • Manage transportation and logistics activities for the European Single Use business, currently based in Hillegom.
  • Organize and coordinate inbound transportation, irradiation logistics, and outbound shipments of raw materials and finished products.
  • Manage relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, and logistics service providers.
  • Monitor shipment schedules, track deliveries, and proactively resolve transportation issues.
  • Optimize logistics processes to improve cost-effectiveness and operational efficiency.
  • Prepare and process shipping documentation, customs declarations, and other required paperwork.
  • Ensure compliance with international, national, and local transportation regulations.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including Procurement, Production, and Customer Service teams, to align logistics activities with business needs.
  • Analyze transportation data and provide regular reporting on KPIs, costs, and performance metrics.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain and logistics function.
  • Develop engineering and procurement packaging solutions for single-use assemblies and hardware systems.
  • Manage and execute special projects as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain roles, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation modes, logistics processes, and applicable regulations, including customs and import/export requirements.
  • Experience working with logistics management systems (TMS/WMS), ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills in both Dutch and English, written and spoken.
  • The ability to work independently while also thriving in a collaborative team environment.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with excellent attention to detail.
