Job summary

KEMA Labs in Arnhem (NL) is seeking a Test Engineer PAC to strengthen the on-site testing team.

You will prepare, execute and follow up standard-compliant tests on high-voltage devices up to 400 kV at customer sites, and support test documentation and bidding phases. A bachelor’s in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent is expected, with strong English and Dutch. Willingness to travel across Europe is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong verbal and written English; Dutch preferred.
• Willingness to travel Europe-wide (150 days/year).
• Experience with protection or substation automation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, execute and follow up standard-compliant tests on HV devices up to 400 kV at customer sites.
• Perform tests for withstand stress and PD measurement per specifications.
• Update test documentation and schedules; support bidding phase.
• Coordinate with customers and on-site team; ensure quality and safety.
• Develop test aids and measurement setups; continuous skills training.

Would you like to contribute to the availability, reliability and security of intelligent electronic devices used for metering, protection, automation and communication in the Power Industry?

The laboratory for Testing, Protection, Automation & Control (PAC) of KEMA B.V. carries out ISO accredited type testing and certification of smart energy meters and intelligent electronic devices for the protection, communication, and automation of electricity networks. The laboratory is notified body for the European Measuring Instrument Directive MID 2014/32/EU. The MPSA laboratory is part of the Services & Smart Technologies (S&ST) department of KEMA Laboratories. S&ST performs testing, inspection, and certification of low voltage components used in the chain from generation, transmission, and distribution of electrical energy. Combined projects are performed with High Power Laboratory and High Voltage Laboratory.

To keep up with a growing market and the introduction of new technologies, we’re looking for a Test Engineer PAC equipment to strengthen our team.

As a Test Engineer PAC On Site Testing at KEMA Labs, your main responsibilities will include:

• Preparation, execution and follow-up of standard-compliant tests on high-voltage devices and systems at the customer's sites, up to 400 kV.

• Tests for the verification of withstand stress with accompanying PD measurement as well as other tests according to customer specifications

• Continuous training in the areas of applicable standards

• Conceptual development of testing, control and measurement technology as well as test methods

• Creation and processing of schedules and rough calculations

• Design and conception of test aids as well as test and measurement setups

• Technical and organizational support in the bidding phase of an order

• Technical and organizational coordination with the customer in the run-up to and during the tests

• Technical customer support and preparation of test documentation

You will be responsible for tasks above and work closely with the onsite team.

Next to the above;

• Secondary with experience or bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.

• Your English and, preferably, your Dutch language skills are strong, verbal and in writing.

• It’s a big plus if you have experience with protection or substation automation related work.

• You take responsibility for your own tasks and competences.

• Extensive technical understanding, accuracy and analytical skills

• Willingness to take many business trips, even at short notice (Europe-wide)

• Willingness to perform as a minimum 150 days/year on-site, typically 3 days a week
