Qualifications

• Experience as technical superintendent or technical manager in a similar environment.
• At least higher/secondary vocational education in mechanical engineering, naval architect or equivalent.
• At least 7 years verifiable experience as technical superintendent/port engineer or technical manager.
• Fluent command of English language, spoken and written.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and execute day-to-day maintenance activities onboard vessels to maintain reliability.
• Supervise chief engineers and ensure technical management aligns with company standards.
• Execute repairs, supervise crew and subcontractors within planning, budget and quality.
• Allocate costs for vessel repairs, dockings and modifications.
• Promote SHEQ awareness and maintain safe working practices on board.
• Interface with regulatory authorities and stakeholders on vessel integrity.

How you can make your mark

Make your mark as Technical Superintendent Nigeria at Smit Lamnalco

You will manage and execute running ‘day-to-day’ Maintenance and Repair (M&R) activities of vessels assigned to you within time-frame and budget as set, in order to maintain technical reliability and maximize utilization of the fleet.

Your responsibilities:

• Coordinate and execute ‘day-to-day’ running maintenance activities (mainly preventive) onboard the vessels to maintain technical reliability of vessels and prevent downtime/off-hire.
• Supervise, coach and instruct chief engineers onboard the vessels to ensure technical management onboard is in line with company expectation
• Execute repairs, supervise crew and subcontractors in line with the agreed planning, budget and quality standards.
• Take responsibility for the correct allocation of costs related to the vessel’s repair and maintenance, dockings, damages and modifications.
• Guides crew on board the vessels to ensure Company standard are met and work is done as per guidelines and specifications
• Actively promotes Safety Health Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) awareness and monitors performance to ensure safety standards and safe working practices /leads ‘by example’
• IInterface with Regulatory Authorities & Stakeholders i.e. Classification Society & Flag State on technical integrity of vessels whilst maintaining cordial relationship with stakeholders.

To fulfil the position of Technical Superintendent Nigiria you are in the possession of:

• Experience as technical superintendent or technical manager in a similar environment / company.
• At least higher / secondary vocational education in mechanical engineering, naval architect or equivalent.
• Experience asformer chief engineer on offshore support Vessels is preferred.
• At least 7 years verifiable experience gained as technical superintendent/port engineer or technical manager. (If you have less experience you are more than welcome to apply as we are recruiting for a junior role as well).
• Fluent command ofthe English language, spoken and written.

Extra information

• Your team: You will be part of the Fleet Management Department of AfrikDelta Marine Ltd, operational unit fully controlled by Smit Lamnalco which consist of approximately 10 professionals. You will report to the Regional Fleet Manager.
• Where you will work: You will work in Onne (Port Harcourt) on a rotation of 8/8 weeks and may be required to travel occasionally.
• Full/part-time job: The position of technical superintendent is a full-timejob, work hours to be adjusted as per operational requirement.
