Job summary

The Google Cloud Platform team is hiring for a role in Groningen/Eemshaven as part of the Scaled Solutions group. You will help Google operate at scale, solving data center blockers and enabling reliable infrastructure across our global footprint.

Responsibilities include diagnosing issues, building internal tools and playbooks, and collaborating with Engineering and Server Operations to fix root causes. This role emphasizes operational excellence and impact across multiple backend systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with two or more of: Web Technology, Data or Big Data, Systems Administration, Machine Learning, Networking, Kubernetes, Oracle, SAP.
• 5 years of experience troubleshooting and advocating for customers' needs and triaging issues.
• Experience owning a full life-cycle of technical projects including design, development, maintenance, and improvements.
• Experience reading code in a general purpose language or system design.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and troubleshoot data center blockers and stakeholder concerns to resolve swiftly.
• Design and improve internal tools, software, and automated frameworks to streamline the issue management life-cycle.
• Create standardized technical playbooks and processes that enable the Google Server Operations team to manage and resolve issues autonomously.
• Partner with Engineering and Server Operations stakeholders to investigate, identify, and fix root causes of negative business outcomes.
• Manage project schedules and timelines while engaging cross-functional partners and participating in weekend on-call rotations.

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with two or more of the following: Web Technology, Data or Big Data, Systems Administration, Machine Learning, Networking, Kubernetes, Oracle, and SAP.
• 5 years of experience troubleshooting and advocating for customers' needs, and triaging technical issues (e.g., hardware, software, application, operational, process).
• Experience owning a full life-cycle of technical projects including design, development, maintenance, and implementing improvements.
• Experience reading code in a general purpose coding language (e.g., Java, C, C++, Python, Shell, Go, JavaScript) or in system design.

Preferred qualifications

• 4 years of experience in technical consulting on supporting large enterprise customers with high service-level objective and service-level agreement requirements.
• Experience with cloud computing (i.e., certifications, internships, coursework, etc.).
• Experience developing backend applications or shell scripts.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, working effectively to discuss prioritization between organizations.
