Job description

This is Adyen

Adyen provides payments, data, and financial products in a single solution for customers like Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft - making us the financial technology platform of choice. At Adyen, everything we do is engineered for ambition.

For our teams, we create an environment with opportunities for our people to succeed, backed by the culture and support to ensure they are enabled to truly own their careers. We are motivated individuals who tackle unique technical challenges at scale and solve them as a team. Together, we deliver innovative and ethical solutions that help businesses achieve their ambitions faster.

About the Role

Adyen's hardware ecosystem bridges physical devices and world-class payment software, built around a fleet of Android-powered terminals ranging from the ultra-portable AMS1 to the interactive countertop SFO1.

As the Technical Program Manager, you'll be the glue bringing new hardware to market. This isn't a maintenance role; you'll own readiness for new terminal and accessory launches, from cross-team kickoff to the moment a device is live with a merchant. You'll work at the intersection of physical-product complexity (electronics, global supply chains, regional logistics) and payments, pulling together Product, Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement, Partnerships, and Commercial to hit the launch date without cutting corners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive the New Terminal Introduction (NTI) Program: Drive full product readiness ownership for new device launches and rollouts, aligning Product, Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement, Partnerships, and Commercial, and proactively unblocking teams to protect time-to-market.
  • Bridge Gaps & Silos: Oversee and drive alignment across multiple internal teams, from software to hardware, security and operations, where you identify and manage dependencies that individual product teams might overlook
  • Mitigate Risk: Identify and resolve technical, compliance, and logistical risks early, especially external dependencies, before they threaten a launch date.
  • Improve the Process: Refine the NTI process after every launch so each rollout runs cleaner than the last.
  • Technical Debt & Modernization: Coordinate legacy-system deprecation and upgrade milestones, migrating to new devices or frameworks with minimal disruption to live merchant environments.
  • Operational Artifacts: Build and maintain RAID logs, milestone dashboards, hardware launch blueprints, and cross-team roadmaps.
Who You Are
  • Experienced launching complex physical products at scale, across suppliers, supply chain, and multi-stakeholder organizations. This matters more than payments-specific background: 5-7 years in fintech, payments, or hardware tech is a plus, but proven skill with physical-product launches is what counts most.
  • A genuine problem-solver. Comfortable with curveballs; you push people toward decisions rather than just documenting dependencies.
  • Technically fluent enough to move independently. Functional understanding of POS terminal architecture and Terminal Management Systems (or the equivalent), enough to make calls without needing a specialist for every decision.
  • A systems thinker with strong judgment. You synthesize dependencies and trade-offs across teams into one roadmap, and know when to decide versus escalat fast.
  • Someone who uses data to drive alignment, not just report it. You've built and run RAID logs and program dashboards to keep cross-functional teams moving in the same direction.
Team & Location

Based in Amsterdam, hybrid, alongside most of your closest stakeholders (Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering and Product). You'll also collaborate with engineering colleagues in Chicago and Bangalore, and coordinate with hardware suppliers globally.
