Job summary

Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam seeks a Technical Instructor for the Interaction Station. You will guide students in safe, hands-on tech projects, support equipment use, and help grow the technical knowledge base. This 0.6–0.8 FTE role emphasizes collaboration with teachers in a creative environment.

You will foster an inclusive, open workspace and contribute to workshops, documentation, and student support across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Strong English communication skills; Dutch knowledge is a plus.
• Willingness to learn TouchDesigner, Arduino, ESP32 and physical computing.
• Experience with prototyping, soldering, and troubleshooting physical computing systems.
• Ability to read and modify Arduino code and consult technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Instruct students on safe use of equipment and tools at the station.
• Monitor inventory and maintain materials and devices for classes.
• Identify students needing extra support and connect them with staff.
• Assist other station teachers before, during and after classes.
• Develop technical workshops and contribute to the wiki.
• Keep workspaces organized and inviting for hands-on learning.
