Job summary

Saab Nederland in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands, seeks a System Engineer – Air Traffic Management with several years of experience in system engineering and a strong networking background. You will design, integrate, test, and optimize radar, communication, navigation, and surveillance systems for ATM applications.

You’ll collaborate with software developers, network engineers, cybersecurity experts, and clients worldwide, with growth opportunities toward technical or leadership roles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace, Computer Science or related field.
• Knowledge of radar, ADS-B, GPS, MLAT, and ATM communication protocols.
• Experience with Bash, Python, C++, Java, MATLAB, Simulink, and Linux environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• Familiarity with Jira, AutoCAD, and MS Office.
• Certifications such as CSEP, ATSEP, or cybersecurity are a plus.
• Experience with agile/lean environments is a plus.
• Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Design hardware and software solutions for radar systems, flight data processing, and communication networks.
• Develop system architectures in accordance with ICAO, EASA, and EUROCONTROL.
• Integrate ATM components and conduct system validation (FAT/SAT).
• Collaborate with software engineers, network and security specialists, and clients.
• Maintain and optimize 24/7 ATM systems for safety and efficiency.
• Prepare technical documentation, test plans, and user manuals.
