Job summary

Liberty ARC is seeking a Supervising Dental Assistant to support Dentist and Hygienist services. The role emphasizes patient care, infection control and efficient workflow within the Health Center.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, at least one year in a dental setting (or a dental certification), and at least one year of supervisory experience. English proficiency and a valid NYS driver’s license are required.

  • One year supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience working with people with developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Must read, write and speak English.
  • Valid NYS driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the day-to-day dental assistant operations of the Health Center, including scheduling.
  • Supervise and complete annual performance evaluations for direct reports.
  • Provide direct assistance to the Dentist(s) and Hygienist(s) during clinical services.
  • Order, receive, restock supplies and maintain inventory for the dental department.
  • Maintain infection control, sterilization and safety protocols (OSHA compliant).
  • Provide patients with care instructions and assist with pre-medications and referrals.
  • Prepare and clean operatories, sterilize and process dental instruments.
  • Maintain x-ray, laboratory and utility areas.
  • Perform equipment checks and maintain logs and compliance records.
  • Ensure compliance with Liberty policy and federal/state regulations.

Reports To: Assistant Director & Chief of Dentistry

Physical Requirements: Ability to assist in transfer of patients.

Hours of Work: Full time 40 hours per week between hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 pm
Monday through Friday.

Job Summary

The Supervising Dental Assistant will provide support for Dentist and Hygienist services. The position focuses on patient care, infection control and efficient work flow.

Job Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of One-year experience in a dental setting or completion of Dental Certification required.
  • One-year supervisory experience preferred.
  • Working with people with developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.
  • Valid NYS Driver's license that meets agency standards and reliable transportation.
Major Responsibilities
  • Direct the day-to-day dental assistant operations of the Health Center, including the scheduling of dental assisting assignments or backup support as needed.
  • Supervise, complete annual performance evaluations for all direct reports.
  • Provide direct assistance as needed to the Dentist(s), and Hygienist(s) during performance of various clinical services.
  • Order, receive and restock supplies, instruments, etc. as dictated in order to ensure accurate inventory is maintained, track supplies, supplies meet the needs in dental department, and that all items dated for use are current.
  • Infection control to ensure strict adherence to sterilization, OSHA, and safety protocols.
  • As directed by providers and/or supervisory personnel provide patients with care instructions, assist in the processes associated with dental pre-medications, referrals to other providers and arrangements for filling/refilling prescription medications.
  • Prepare and clean dental operatories before and after patient visits and at beginning/end of day along with sterilization and processing of all dental instruments.
  • Maintain as necessary x-ray, laboratory and utility areas of the dental department.
  • Perform as directed equipment checks and maintain accurate logs and compliance records as required for Health Center operations.
  • Perform all duties to ensure compliance with New Dimensions in Health Care Policy and Guidelines and all applicable Federal and State laws and regulations.
