Procurement Strategy Consultant at Sourcing Champions

We are looking for a Consultant – Procurement Strategy Consultant based in Amsterdam with procurement experience (0‑3 years) for our team. The Strategy Consultant will contribute to various transformation projects across the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and other European and global countries. You will be part of a team that leads Procurement projects, collaborating with clients to develop and implement sourcing strategies that solve their most critical problems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development and execution of procurement and sourcing strategies that align with client business goals.
- Support in procurement transformations, including category strategy, RFX/tender processes, sustainability & risk and cost‑down initiatives for clients.
- Assist in stakeholder engagement at all levels of the client’s organization, from Board of Management to operational teams.
- Collaborate with client cross‑functional teams, including R&D, Engineering, Operations, and Finance, to align procurement with business strategy.
- Provide support in procurement strategy, risk management & sustainability, cost optimization, and digitalisation/AI.
- Assist in coaching and guiding client procurement teams.
- Contribute to client negotiations, ensuring strategic and cost‑effective supplier relationships.
- Manage smaller procurement projects, ensuring execution within scope, time, and budget constraints.
- Support change management efforts to ensure successful adoption of procurement improvements.
- Deliver workshops and presentations to procurement teams and key stakeholders.
- Use data analytics to provide insights for procurement performance improvements.
- Support the use of advanced procurement software (SRM, S2P, category management tools, etc.) to enhance efficiency.
- Contribute to proposal/pitch preparation and procurement strategy development.
- Assist in guiding clients on procurement best practices.
- Contribute to fostering a results‑driven approach, ensuring procurement delivers measurable value to the client’s organization.
- Adapt to diverse corporate cultures and work across different industries and geographies.
- Project management support and assisting in overseeing projects with a focus on timelines, resources, and deliverables.
Expected knowledge and experience:
- MSc in Business Administration or Economics, Procurement focus
- 0‑3 years of work experience in Sourcing & Procurement management in consultancy and/or industries.
- Passionate about procurement, strategy, and driving transformational change.
- Capabilities in Sourcing & Procurement, such as category strategy & management, tender processes, negotiations, and driving procurement projects.
- Experience in category management of direct and/or indirect categories.
- Strong people skills and the ability to engage at various levels of the client’s organization.
- Experience in supporting team leadership and guiding smaller groups.
- Strong communicator with verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Project management and change management skills. Organized and deadline‑driven.
- Self‑starter with the ability to adapt, improvise, and problem‑solve in a dynamic environment.
- Experience in supporting proposal/pitch preparation and business development activities.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint & Excel) is a must; other procurement best‑of‑breed software skills are a plus (SRM, Plan to Strategy, Sourcing systems, etc.).
- With initiative, drive, entrepreneurship, and creativity, working well both independently and as part of a team.
- Respectful towards client cultures, perspectives, and paradigms.
- Ability to influence others through written or verbal communication.
- Fluent in English, Dutch and/or German (strong plus).
- Autonomous work approach, with the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced scale‑up environment.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
