Job summary

City of Warrensburg in Missouri is seeking an energetic City Planner with skills in development services, master planning, zoning, and administering grants. This role requires understanding of economic development and a commitment to best practices and collaboration in a team‑oriented environment.

The position reports to the Director of Community Development. A bachelor's degree in urban planning is required; AICP preferred or to be obtained within four years.

Qualifications

• Experience interpreting zoning ordinances, development laws, plans and reviewing subdivision plats and site plans using best practices in a one‑stop shop environment that maximizes collaboration and efficiency.
• An understanding of economic development and a development review process that focuses on delivering quality customer service and a pro‑growth strategy.
• Outstanding customer service skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, good organizational skills, common‑sense, and a willingness to work independently across a variety of tasks.

• Develop and implement urban development plans and zoning strategies.
• Coordinate with departments to administer grants and manage development reviews.
